Palau Redang (Malaysia) by client

“Hi Jim, you’re looking tanned and relaxed. Where have you been?” “We are Tony. Dulcie and I have just got back from a great holiday in Palau Redang”

“What’s a Palau Jim?”

“Its Malaysian for Island Tony and this Redang Island is a real cracker.”

“Sounds fascinating Jim. Tell me all about it”.

“Well Tony, the Island is off the North East coast of Malaysia and it’s really easy to reach from Brisbane.  Dulcie and I spoiled ourselves and flew Business Class on Malaysian Airways leaving here at 11pm and arriving at Kuala Lumpur at about 6am.  Tons of time to move to domestic departures and catch a 50min flight to Kuala Terengganu.  The locals pronounce that ‘Trengarnoo’ Tony and it’s a modern city on the East Coast of Malaysia.  You get met at the airport and driven to the ferry wharf, all easy and laid back.  We had a short wait there (Dulcie said the Wharf toilet was a shocker, I didn’t ask for details) before getting on a high speed ferry for Palau Redang”.

“How long did the ferry take Jim?”

“I was just going to say that Tony.  It took one and half hours and was no worries at all.  We were met on the Wharf on arrival and moved to the resort a few minutes away by bus.  Take note of this Tony, the resort is called Berjaya Beach Resort”.

“Why do you want me to note that Jim?”

“Because Tony it turned out to be brilliant.  The Berjaya stands for the company that owns it and they have similar resorts on other Malaysian Islands.  It is brilliant because it’s beside a private beach that has the cleanest white sands, the clearest blue, warm water, the most comfortable rooms and the friendliest staff we have ever seen.  Listen to this Tony, there are no jelly fish, crocodiles, sharks or even rubbish in the water.  Furthermore Tony, you can swim out to a pontoon and snorkel over really good coral and fish life.  Is that good or what?”

“Sounds fantastic Jim. What else can you do there?”

“Lots Jim.  Scuba diving (supposed to be among the worlds best sites), jungle trekking, snorkelling, visiting the research centre and lots, lots more.”

“What did you and Dulcie do then?”

“Have to confess Tony that we chilled out.  No flash shops (thank goodness!).  We swam, lay around the beautiful swimming pool, we went on a snorkelling trip right round the Island but most of all we tried all the local food in the resort restaurant.  We love Malaysian food and the staff in the dining room were so nice I wanted to take one or two home with us (Dulcie wasn’t happy with that idea).

“How long were you there Jim and would you and Dulcie so that again?”

“We spent seven blissful days there Tony.  Would we go back again? In a heartbeat!”

“Thanks for all that Jim. Give my best to Dulcie and tell her I can’t wait to see her sun tan”.
