Amazing Race September 2006

Join the Amazing Race!

20 Teams….27 Days….8 Countries….4 Continents….1 Winner!

This is the ultimate tour for anybody who has seen TV’s Amazing Race and thought “I’d love to do that!”

Fellow Travelscene American Express agent from Adelaide Bunnik Tours is giving us the once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of their very own Amazing Race.  Loosely based on the reality TV series of the same name this tour sets teams of 2 against each other as they travel around the world.  Teams will compete in a series of exciting challenges as they travel to some of the world’s most exotic locations.   Each team completes the entire race and are awarded points depending on how quickly, or how much, they complete each challenge.

There are over $10,000 worth of prizes to be won along the way including a VIP trip for two to Sri Lanka for the ultimate winners.

The tour includes many places made famous by the TV series including the Monk Tiger Temple in Thailand, India and the streets of London and New York.  But this is much more than just a race, it is also the holiday of a lifetime with amazing sightseeing included along the way in Thailand, India, London, Amsterdam, Paris and America.  The final challenge is in New Zealand.  Teams then enjoy a relaxing day at a spa before the final winner is announced at a gala dinner.

The 27-day Amazing Race tour departs Australia on 6 May 2007 and starts at $8,999 per person plus airfare taxes.

The team from Bunnik Tours have been following the Amazing Race several years and always dreamed of taking part.    So an idea was formed to develop their own race.   Using a round-the-world airfare the guys from Bunniks worked for about 3 months to get the flight itinerary just right.  “We wanted to include as many of the destinations featured on the race as possible’, explained operations manager, Sacha Bunnik.  “It took some doing but we managed to include Thailand, India, Holland, Belgium, France, England, the USA and New Zealand.”

With the flights locked down it was time to work on the challenges.  Bunnik Tours staff were sent to the various destinations with the task of developing the challenges.   “We again tried to follow the show as much as possible incorporating both Road Blocks and Detours.    The final challenges we came up with are really fantastic.  Cities like Bangkok, Delhi and even Paris & Amsterdam really offer an amazing array opportunities – especially the sort that tourists normally would not get to experience.”

“Obviously we can’t give too much away but it is fair to say that competitors will be challenged!!  They will also get the chance to see a side of each destination that you normally don’t see from the comfort of a tour bus.”

On the show teams get eliminated and are sent home.  They also have to carry their own luggage.  “We understand that this is also a holiday so there are no eliminations.  Rather teams will earn points for each challenge with great prizes to be won along the way.  Then the ultimate winners will win the grand prize of the VIP trip to Sri Lanka.”

And as for the luggage?  “Most challenges will be starting at the hotel so there is no need to carry your luggage during the challenges.”

“We’ve also built in lots of sightseeing as well as free time – after all this is a holiday!”  The sightseeing ranges from the exotically beautiful Taj Mahal to the actioned packed streets of New York.  For more details please contact the girls at Travelscene Samford on 32893700.
